MultiplicationMultiplication is one of the core concepts and skills taught in math this year. The students start in the beginning of year and progress towards learning more challenging facts as use the year progresses. Throughout our math unit, the students are taught different strategies and skills to help solve their multiplication facts. Some of these skills consist of:
The goal is for each student to master their their multiplication fact with speed and accuracy. This is extremely crucial as it is the foundation to all future skills and concepts. We encourage students to practice their fact fluency daily. There are many different ways to study and master these facts. Below are some suggestions! Remember, every learner is different, therefore, if a single strategy may not work for them, try something else on the list!

How Can I Help At Home?What type of homework will my child receive and how often?
Your child will receive math homework each night. Math homework will consist of a math home link or a worksheet that is directly related to the skill or concept we are focusing on in class. Your child will also receive multiplication skill practice worksheets. My child is struggling with their homework, what do I do? If your child is struggling with their homework please make a note so we can review the skill with them in class. We support you helping your child through each problem but we feel it is crucial for us to know if they had trouble with their homework, so we can reteach the skill or concept. I've tried to help my child with their homework but math has changed, how can I help my child? If you are stuck on a problem while helping your child with their homework you can either visit the Everyday Math Website for assistance, khanacademy.org, or simply leave a note and we will reteach the skill the following day! How much support should I provide my child with while they are completing homework? 3rd-Grade is full of many transitions. One of the main focuses in 3rd-grade is to build independence, therefore, we highly encourage students to try their homework on their own. Of course, if they need help or are confused we support you helping your child. |
